My guinea pigs have enjoyed cuddle cups for many years and after sewing hundreds of cuddle cups for my amazing customers, I am so excited to release the first of my patterns! Cuddle cups are used by guinea pigs of all ages and personalities, especially when placed in a quiet or sheltered area of the cage. You always get those who love to lounge out in the open too though! They are a great starting point for anyone looking to start making their own cozy items for their pets.

The instructions cover 8 pages and advise on pattern design and materials, fabric choices, fabric preparation and cover each step in detail to create your own beds, with photos along the way. FAQ:
Do I need a sewing machine?
No! Although a sewing machine will significantly speed up the time it takes to make a bed, it is not absolutely necessary and you can hand sew the entire project.

What fabrics do I need and how much?
One bed uses three layers of material and I recommend cotton, fleece and polyester wadding, although you can have two layers of fleece. Half metre or half yard lengths (at the full fabric width – usually between 110 cm and 150 cm) will be more than enough to make one or two beds and most fabric shops are reasonably priced so it will not work out too expensive. And remember, you can make endless beds with the patterns and your new skills!

What if I’m a complete beginner?
Some sewing knowledge will help, however each step is described in detail, aimed at a person who is new to sewing. Setting up a sewing machine and how to hand sew is not covered, however only simple, straightforward stitches (running stitch and slip stitch) are used.
